“Pop hooks shimmer in a haze of reverb and distortion, not rushing but relishing the candy-coated sound of every moment. Carrying you away to sun-drenched days with the most blissful of blue skies” The Line of Best Fit

Instant nostalgia, almost like they’ve bottled up the spirit of endless sun-drenched hours of our teenage summers, the smell of yellowy sand and dry desert road trips” Wonderland

Put your headphones on and dream of sunnier climes.” DORK

A nice bit of jangle pop.” i-D

“It’s about finding another weirdo who’s weirdness makes total sense to you. That’s love” Family Friends on ‘I’m Like You’

Brother-sister duo Family Friends, made up of Rebecca and Tom Fitzsimons, release ‘I’m Like You’ – the second track is taken from their forthcoming EP, out late Feb.

Living between Melbourne and London the group’s sound is East London cool glazed with South Australian Sun. Bouncy psych elements combine with warm hazed-out dream-pop to create infectious tunes; brimful of attitude and oozing hooks from every pore ‘I’m Like You’ is an exuberant statement track from the duo.

Whilst there is a decidedly 90s tilt to the music, with nods towards the classier elements of brit-pop and the slacker rock scene, Family Friends slot well into the modern school of tasteful, melancholic guitar-pop. Reminiscent of the likes of Weezer, Breeders, Black Honey or Beach Baby they nonetheless retain a playfulness that grants them their own unique vibe.
