London based brothers Over Sands have announced their upcoming sophomore EP Roman Rooms.  This follows their debut self-titled EP released at the end of 2015 via tastemaker Los Angeles label B3SCI, which saw positive reviews from critics including Clash, Indie Shuffle, Shortlist, and The Line of Best Fit.

Roman Rooms was written and recorded at Over Sands’ East London studio (far removed from the beach house where their debut was conceived).

The first track from the EP, ‘Memory House’, finds the duo reflecting on how the collection of memories makes up our present, and how the unreliability of memory distorts the view when revisiting the past. How do we interpret our history if we don’t know whether it’s real or imagined?

During the recording of the track the duo projected photos and textures on the wall to inspire ideas. Mostly recorded at night when the former school building their studio is located in was deserted, the duo manipulated field recordings captured within the long reverberating corridors to infuse the song with natural, haunting soundscapes. Distant footsteps, dripping taps, creaking doors, and humming lights became synths, beats and percussion.

Over Sands’ sophomore EP will be released on August 19th world-wide in digital format.
