Manchester’s Whyte Horses have today released the new video for ‘La Couleur Originelle’ – watch HERE. The dreamy video was directed and edited by band member Dom Thomas and is a real demonstration of the band’s psychedelic aesthetics.

The band’s debut album Pop or Not was released earlier this month via CRC Music. the band are streaming album track ‘Feels Like Somethings Changing’ – listen HERE. Pop or Not is the result of a music chronologist’s three-month sojourn in the heart of the Italian countryside with only battered analogue recording gear, some cheap guitars and a female vocalist and friend for company. Inspired by the nomadic travels of cult folk artist Mark Fry and outsider Krautrock groups, Pop or Not was created deep within a dilapidated cottage, deep in the Frosinone mountains range with no access to the outside world.

Whyte Horses are a perfect psychedelic pop group. The ensemble make guitars chime like lysergic bells and sing songs so full of wonder that they make your heart ache. They shape-shift from Turkish psyche to Brazilian trip music, from acid house to electronica to punk rock to guitar classic in a heartbeat. It really shouldn’t work, but it is synthesised with such love and perfection that there is a hypnotic beauty to their music and a poetic perfection to their muse.

All the best music is made by fanatics. The kind of people who are immersed in its wonder and dream in technicolour and see sound and are obsessed by the never ending panoply of electric noise. The band is the brainchild of Dom Thomas, a music fanatic and chronologist who scours the planet for obscure and rare vinyl genius. This obsession is their musical DNA and Whyte Horses are the sound of people who are on the quest for the perfect record and have decided to make one themselves.

The album is an experimental melting pot of drones, wonderful melting guitars and shape shifting vocals. At any moment you expect a sitar and then you get a chiming 12 string perfection or the soaring noisescapes like a Mercury Rev immersed in a far flung colony. The vivid soundscapes soundtrack create a visual movie in your head full of warmth, nostalgia and excitement. The forthcoming videos will be a trail of clues towards the concept of the album Pop or Not, printing of memories and sensations, a filmic representation of things past and future, thoughts and ideas.
