After recently selling out a monster 22-night headline tour, Newcastle four-piece Lisbon announce details of their new single Shark, out 27th May. The track, released via Think Tank? Records, is the follow-up to their hugely successful previous single Vice which earned support from Annie Mac on Radio 1.
Produced by Dan Austin (Doves, Pixies), Shark is another step forward for the blossoming North East indie quartet, showing a heavier side than previous single Vice, whilst still packing the same punch and groove.
Listen to ‘Shark’:
Frontman Matthew Varty says ‘Shark depicts the struggle young bands have nowadays to make a name for themselves in the music industry. The daily financial issues of being in an emerging band versus never wanting to give up on your dream, whilst at the same time avoiding the many ‘sharks’ that you cross paths with along the way. The song is a way of expressing our frustrations, whilst portraying a newfound darkness. We want to follow the percussive vibe from our previous singles but a lot of our new songs have a more raw live sound.’
After a stellar 2015 and sell-out January headline tour under their belts, as well as support slots for Little Comets and Eliza and the Bear, Lisbon are set to embark on their third headline tour, with plans to make a real mark on the national scene this year.
Lisbon’s Shark will be released via Think Tank? Records on 27th May.
