Last week, Christine and the Queens’ gender-fluidity anthem “iT”helped close the ending scenes of Lena Dunham’s GIRLS latest episode. Afterwards, the track because the #1 most Shazamed song in NYC, LA, Chicago, SF, DC and Philadelphia, and Shazam made it Song of the Day.
The gorgeous and complex track “iT” from her self-titled debut album (Because Records/Neon Gold/Atlantic Records) is also featured on the soundtrack from the TV series’ fourth season. Christine and the Queens says: “Like any other kid, I greet good news by improvising some moves, I thought I could share my celebration dance this time…” See the celebration dance video HERE.
The French sensation was called “a new kind of global popstar” in FADER’s 10 page spread on her as part of their first ever global issue HERE. Besides performing highly anticipated Coachella live sets in Indio in April, Christine and the Queens will open up for the like-minded artist Grimes on 4.21 at The Shrine Expo Hall (SOLD OUT) and perform a headlining show at El Rey (SOLD OUT) on 4.20 in Los Angeles. In May Christine will return again to North America for Boston Calling on Sunday 5.29 and New York’s Gov Ball on Sunday 6.5. Other headline shows are in Washington, DC and Philadelphia.
Christine and the Queens closed an incredible year in America with a performance at The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, sold out tour with Marina and The Diamonds and headline show at Webster Hall. Besides the Late Night with Seth Meyers appearance, she’s shared the stage with Madonna, Diplo/Major Lazer. Her debut received critical acclaim on Best of 2015 lists from FADER, TIME Magazine, SPIN and Pitchfork gave the album an 8.0 stating “It’s empowering, bold, and vulnerable, and made for dancing.” and received continuous praise from Elton John, Lorde, Mark Ronson etc.
