“Fun, breezy surfy jams with big wave hooks” BROOKLYN VEGAN
“Summery and vibrant surf rock” CONSEQUENCE OF SOUND
“A ramshackle garage-pop ditty that lodges in your head the second you hear it” AMOEBA
If you happen to live in a country in the dead of Winter, where the temperatures are below the 15 degrees mark, then listening to one of our favourite bands of 2015, ‘Dante Elephante’ should surely make you feel like it’s Summer already.
The new track ‘Pasadena Dreams’ is giving out this summery vibe just as much as their debut track with the ominous name
‘Never Trust A Junkie’, for which we’re still awaiting a fitting explanation what or who inspired them to name the track. We might just have to take their word for it.
Having been discovered by
‘Super Fan 99 Records’ on a trip to LA at the start of 2015, and asking staff at an Echo Park record store for a recommendation of good pop tunes they had no hesitation in handing them a cassette of ‘Dante Elephante’s’ EP ‘German Aquatics’.
After this they became big fans themselves and Super Fan 99 Records was then quite keen to make a UK release happen and last year they’ve released ‘Anglo Saxon Summer’ to brilliant reviews.
Fittingly ‘Pasadena Dreams’ will be a landmark release for the label which they wanted to mark with an interesting format and clear heart shaped vinyl seemed apt. It is backed by dream-pop album cut ‘Pop Song’ and is certainly one the collectors will be eager to lay their hands on. Pasadena Dreams was produced by Jonathan Rado of the band Foxygen.
The song is accompanied by a video set in the 60s telling the story of two English teens who plan to run away to Pasadena. It stars upcoming Brit actress Emma-Jane Hinds and Harry Bullot and which you can watch below.
