London is set to enjoy another summer of Scandi fun as one of last year’s most successful pop up festivals, the Kopparberg Urban Forest, returns to the capital. Entwined in Hackney Wick for five weeks from 10th June until 12th July, the event will see Swedish and London culture collide in a heady mix of live music, street food and drink.
For five weeks, under the canopy of the Kopparberg Urban Forest, a magical clearing will showcase the intriguing beauty of the Swedish pine forest surrounding the brewery in the small town of Kopparberg. Here, summer fun seekers will enjoy sunny days and balmy nights around a stage that will be graced by the UK’s top festival music artists, DJs and established Scandi acts.
Bands set to play the stage this year include some of the UK’s most sought after festival acts such as Katy B, Ms Dynamite, Slow Club, Submotion, Orchestra, Citizens!, Girl Friend and The Cuban Brothers. A range of Scandinavian artists including Heart/Dancer, Vanbot and Summer Heart will also join this year’s festival bill.
The five-weeks will also see an array of top DJs and club nights grace the line-up, including a DJ set from Chromeo, DJ Yoda, Trevor Nelson, Norman Jay for a summer solstice special, and Hip-Hop karaoke.
Carved into the forest will be two bars – the first, a woodland bar serving delicious Swedish fruit ciders and beers from the Kopparberg Brewery. The second, the Kopparberg Urban Forest’s Frozen Fruit Cider Bar, the only bar in the world serving up invigorating icy versions of the Swedish cider – the ideal cocktail alternative for the hot summer days and nights.
Alongside this, a selection of the finest street food eateries will root themselves on-site to fuel the party. An eclectic mix, the offering includes Buffalo Joe’s, Mama’s Jerk Station and Le Bun.
Welcoming a mix of London and Swedish culture every step of the way, the Kopparberg Urban Forest will be working closely with local residents throughout the event. Teaming up with Hackney Wick’s Yard Theatre, the event will sell the Hard Yard, a bespoke cocktail that sees £1 donated to the theatre with each drink.
Kopparberg Urban Forest will work with food vendors, artists, musicians, and carpenters from the local area. Kopparberg is also building local partnerships with organisations within the Hackney Wick Fish Island Cultural Interest Group.
The Kopparberg Urban Forest is set to give the capital’s summer a Scandi twist and provide an electrifying and enchanting experience amongst the urban streets.
Entry to Kopparberg Urban Forest will be free and open to over 18s only.
