GRAMMY nominated artist Emily King will independently release her sophomore album The Switch on June 26th via her own label Making Music Records. Originally signed to J Records / Sony Music by Clive Davis, Emily released her debut to fan-fare. East Side Story was nominated for a Best Contemporary R&B Album GRAMMY and saw Emily tour the world with John Legend, Alicia Keys, Nas and Gnarles Barkley to name a few. Emily parted ways with J but has continued to work non-stop; she recently toured with Maroon 5 and Sara Bareilles, played The Royal Albert Hall in London and released various singles that caught the attention of NPR and Vice.
The Switch has already caught the attention of Noisey who says new song Distance “initially grabbed our attention when it burned down the Internet earlier this year. With its 70s bounce and feel-good groove it occupies that sweet spot between The Carpenters and Feist … Distanceis the best thing the Grammy-nominated 28-year-old has ever released … it’s a fair indication of her new material, scheduled to drop later this year. Keep your ears cocked.” MTV goes on to say “If she’s not your new favorite singer after 10 seconds of listening to her new song Distance, then there must be something wrong with your ears. And your brain. And your heart.” BBC’s Radio 1 goes on to call Emily “one of the best songwriters around at the moment.”
